Melanie Lane (Australia | Berlin) will work with materials/objects as well as researching a specific creative and physical movement vocabulary that she has developed over the last years.
ABOUT MELANIE LANE
Born in Sydney, 1978, Melanie completed her education at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 1999. In 2001 she moved to Europe and has since worked as a dancer with choreographers and companies such as Club Guy and Roni (Holland), Tino Seghal (Berlin), Jan Pusch (Hamburg), Kobalt Works (Belgium), Tanztheater Osnabrueck (Germany), Eun Me Ahn Company (Seoul/Berlin), Company PVC (Germany).
As a choreographer, Melanie has been based as an 'Artist in Residence' at the Dock 11 Studios, Berlin since 2004. She has collaborated with a number of artists such as choreographer/artist Morgan Belenguer, musician Chris Clark, video duo Photone and Film makers Eva S.Aridjis and Timo Schierhorn. Her works include 'Cooper' 2005, 'Under Violent Objects' 2006, 'RIDDLE' 2007 and 'HELD' 2008, among others. She has been involved in numerous choreographic projects for the Festival Collines, St.Etienne, Tanz Festival Freiburg and the Lucky Trimmer Tanz Performance Series in Berlin, to name a few.
Melanie has most recently completed two research and development projects in Sydney and Perth, Australia. During her time in Australia she was also invited to create a new work 'Fury Due' for the 2nd year Dance students at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. In 2005 Melanie was nominated 'Young Dancer to watch' in Ballettanz Magazine and received the award for 'Artist of the Year' from Theaterverein Osnabrueck.
Melanie currently works as a choreographer/dancer/teacher based in Berlin.
